Now the unbeaten WBO welterweight title holder, the American, 34, has teased a move up to light-middleweight.

Champ Jermell Charlo, 31, warned against the jump but Stevenson, 24, revealed Crawford has dealt with much more.

He told FightHub TV: “I think Bud is going to surprise. He [Charlo] really doesn’t think Bud is strong.

“He’s talking about being the knockout artist. I definitely don’t see that happening with Bud. I feel like Bud is the better overall fighter.

“We have seen him struggle with Tony Harrison. I feel like Bud is levels above Tony Harrison, no disrespect to him.

“Bud will beat him, but he’s just talking. It surprises people how strong Bud actually is.

“I have seen him knock out some heavyweights in the gym. He hurts 178-pounders.

“I’m not going to say no names, but fighters that are out there now. I have seen him put down and hurt them.

“I feel like Charlo gets hit with one of them punches, and he’s going to have a changed mind.”

Crawford currently competes at 10st 7lb, with the lightest heavyweight still weighing 14 stone, making the size difference in sparring huge.

He is set to remain at welterweight with a super-fight against Errol Spence, 32, still on the table.

Spence, who owns the WBC and IBF belt, unifies them with the WBA version held by Yordenis Ugas, 35, on April 16.

But a win for the Texan back home in Dallas could secure a dream-bout with Crawford.

Stevenson said: “I think that’s a great fight. I have a lot of respect for Errol Spence. I would love to be in the front row to watch that fight.”
