Australia cricket star’s ‘gross act’ during Ashes Test against England caught on camera leaving fans stunned

But he drew the eye with his antics on day one of the Lord’s Test match against England.

Having accumulated 40 runs in 59 balls, the Aussie removed his helmet for a moment’s restbite.

As he bent down to adjust himself, the gum fell out of his mouth and onto the wicket.

But Labuschagne was not deterred by this as he swiftly picked it up and threw it back in his mouth.

Some fans were disgusted, with one saying: “Gross act, settle down!”

Another added: “From cold toasties to … this. A freak of nature.”

And a third simply replied: “Jail.”

But others leapt to the defence of the Australian – who has nearly 3,500 Test runs to his name.

One social media user responded: “Five second rule applies, especially at Lord’s.”

While a second joked: “Taste the pitch, know the pitch.”

Labuschagne managed just seven more before he edged through to Jonny Bairstow off the bowling of Ollie Robinson for 47.

And, while he is considered one of Australia‘s best batsman, he managed just 13 runs across both innings in the First Test – which Australia won by two wickets.
