Stuart Broad heads to McDonald’s with Ben Stokes and England team-mates after fairytale Ashes retirement

CRICKET legends Stuart Broad, Ben Stokes and Zak Crawley surprised fans in a local McDonald’s after England’s fifth Test win in the Ashes earlier this week.

Broad, 37, retired from cricket on Monday after leading England to a fairytale win over Australia.

The trio stopped to chat to fans

He took the final wicket with his last-ever delivery to level the series 2-2, but Australia went on to retain the Ashes.

Speaking after the Test, Broad said: “Once we got a couple we really started to believe.

“The crowd were unbelievable. It was so loud and we just jumped on the back of that.

“To contribute to the team with two wickets is very special.

“When you make that decision [to retire] you wonder what your last ball will be so to take a wicket to win an Ashes Test match is pretty cool.”

Following the final test at The Oval, Broad took to McDonald’s to celebrate with England team-mates Stokes and Crawley.

The trio were filmed taking pictures with fans while waiting for their food.

England’s trip to McDonald’s came just a matter of hours after the team was accused of snubbing Australia’s offer for post-series drinks.

However, Stokes took to Twitter at 4:11am on Tuesday morning to clarify that the situation had actually been caused by the team’s wrap taking longer than expected.

He wrote: “To clarify… Our wrap took longer than expected because of multiple last time events.”

The 32-year-old then went on to add that the traditional drinks did still happen, just with the teams meeting at the night club instead of in the dressing room.
