But who exactly is this talented young cricketer?

Who is England cricketer Harry Brook?

Born on February 22, 1999, Harry Cherrington Brook was raised in Burnley, Wharfedale by an active club cricket family.

Brook was educated at Ilkley Grammar School but left aged 14 having been offered a scholarship at Sedbergh School – a private boarding school in Cumbria.

The Englishman made his first-class debut for Yorkshire against Pakistan A in 2016 before stepping foot on the County Championship field a year later where he scored three centuries within a fortnight.

But Brook really put his name on the map when he captained the England Under-19 cricket team in a five-match youth ODI series against India in 2017.

And by September 2022, Harry made his Test debut for England against South Africa.

What has Harry Brook achieved?

February 2023 saw Brook become the first batter to reach 800 Test runs in just nine innings and his tally of 800 runs came off after facing just 803 deliveries in his Test career.

In Test matches, only Sunil Gavaskar (912 runs) and Sir Donal Bradman (862 runs) made more runs in their first six appearances.

And alongside Joe Root, Brook broke the record last held by Andrew Flintoff and Graham Thorpe (282) for a combined total of runs by Englishman with 302.

Brook also has scored FOUR international Test centuries in his career:

  • December 1, 2022 vs Pakistan – 153
  • December 9, 2022 vs Pakistan – 108
  • December 17, 2022 vs Pakistan – 111
  • February 24, 2023 vs New Zealand – 186
