Arsenal considering cut-price Nicolo Zaniolo bid with Juventus target’s Roma renewal stalling over salary demands

ARSENAL are reportedly considering a cut-price swoop for Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo.

That’s after talks over a new contract stalled due to salary demands.

Arsenal are lining up a swoop for Roma contract rebel Nicolo Zaniolo

Rai Sport claims Zaniolo has forced his way onto Mikel Arteta’s transfer wishlist after starring in the Italian capital.

Zaniolo, 23, has 22 goals in 117 games for Jose Mourinho’s side.

But doubts are now emerging over his future at the Stadio Olimpico.

Zaniolo is out of contract in 2024 and has been locked in talks with Roma chiefs over an extension.

The Italy international wants to be paid at least £3.5million a year, while also receiving a tasty bonus based on appearances.

However, Roma are not willing to cough up that extra dosh, and are only willing to pay an annual salary of £3m.

Talks have now ground to a halt, prompting fresh interest from long-term suitors Juventus.

But it’s Arsenal who could end up swooping for Zaniolo in January.

Arteta wants to add another dynamic attacking midfielder to his squad.

And the ex-Inter Milan youngster fits the bill perfectly.

Zaniolo was strongly linked with a Premier League move over the summer, with Tottenham considering a bid after Roma snapped up Paulo Dybala on a free transfer.

Chelsea are also thought to be monitoring the situation amid doubts over Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech’s futures.

The Blues have been linked with Zaniolo’s teammate Lorenzo Pellegrini too.

And they will also have an option to re-sign Tammy Abraham from Roma for £67m at the end of the season.
