Arsenal Legend Santi Cazorla Joins Real Oviedo After Taking Pay Cut

Cazorla Returns to Boyhood Club

Arsenal legend Santi Cazorla has made a stunning move to his boyhood club Real Oviedo. The midfielder, who spent three years in Qatar with Al Sadd, has taken a significant pay cut to join the Spanish second tier club.

Unveiling in Gandalf Style

Cazorla's announcement at Real Oviedo was anything but ordinary. In a nod to the fantasy epic "Lord of the Rings," the 38-year-old donned a wizard's costume, playing the role of Gandalf, while sitting on a cart adorned with Arsenal and Villarreal shirts.

Return to Boyhood Club

Cazorla, who is a passionate Oviedo fan, had previously left the club to join Villarreal without making a first-team appearance for them. Now, he has sacrificed his image rights and accepted a league minimum wage of £132,500 to play for his beloved team.

Investing in the Future

In addition to his pay cut, Cazorla has also agreed to invest 10% of his shirt sales into Oviedo's youth academy. The midfielder has signed a one-year deal with the club, aiming to make a positive impact both on and off the pitch.

Successful Career

Cazorla joined Arsenal from Malaga in 2012 and spent six seasons at the club, winning two FA Cups. After leaving Arsenal, he rejoined Villarreal and then moved to Al Sadd, where he reportedly had the opportunity to join Xavi's backroom staff at Barcelona. However, he has chosen to continue his playing career with Oviedo.
