Chelsea could rename Stamford Bridge with stadium having same name as Euro giants’ under new sponsorship deal

CHELSEA could allegedly rename Stamford Bridge as part of a new sponsorship deal – and their home could be called the same as that of one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

American billionaire Todd Boehly and his co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali are determined for the club to have one of the greatest stadiums on the planet by 2030.

Stamford Bridge could be renamed as part of a new sponsorship deal

It is understood that the Blues currently have three options regarding their home ground.

One is to start work and build on a completely new site.

Another is knocking down their current home and rebuilding a new ground from scratch and the other is just to redevelop Stamford Bridge.

We reported previously how demolishing their West London ground and building a brand new one in its place on the existing site is emerging as the most likely option.

Now the Daily Mail has claimed that “Allianz are interested in a long-term sponsorship deal” that would bring the renovated home into their “family of stadiums”.

The German insurance company has been in talks to be Chelsea’s new shirt sponsor after the previous agreement with Three expired.

However, it now seems that online casino Stake have won that chase.

This fresh update states that Allianz were looking at a shirt or sleeve deal – but they also “sounded out” the club about a potential stadium naming deal once a decision on their future home has been decided.

And it adds that sources informed them that Allianz are “seriously considering” a “major” and “long-term” package.

The company have so far declined to comment on the talks with Chelsea.

German giants Bayern Munich play at the 70,000-capacity Allianz Arena.

And the company also holds naming rights deals with a further six stadiums in Sydney, Minnesota, Nice, Vienna, Turin and Sao Paulo.
