Chelsea enquire about Milan Skriniar as they look to hijack Tottenham’s transfer for Inter Milan defender

CHELSEA are reportedly looking to hijack a move for Tottenham transfer target Milan Skriniar.

The 27-year-old defender has hardly missed a game since signing for Inter in 2017.

Skriniar joined Inter in 2017 and has been a standout performer for a number of years

He also played a key role in Inter’s Serie A title win last term.

And according to the Daily Mail, Skriniar is a transfer target for Chelsea as well as Tottenham, who are coached by former Inter boss Antonio Conte.

However, despite both clubs being likely to have substantial transfer funds available in the upcoming window, the report claims they are some distance away from Inter’s valuation of the defender.

Chelsea could instead opt to fork out money on a much younger centre-back.

Chelsea ‘to sign Kounde this month’, Blues ‘want Skriniar’, Dembele latest

The Blues were linked with Sevilla’s Jules Kounde last summer, and at one point a deal looked likely.

But in the end, the France international stayed put in Spain.

Chelsea are looking likely to return for the 23-year-old and a deal could be struck for less than £70million.

Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt is also a target.

The Dutchman is one of Juve’s highest earners but has struggled to find consistency.

Boss Thomas Tuchel may be forced into signing more than one defender.

Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen will leave Stamford Bridge for free at the end of the month when their deals expire.

And club captain Cesar Azpilicueta, as well as Marcos Alonso, are attracting interest from Spain.
