Chelsea given major transfer boost as Juventus CEO hints Matthijs de Ligt may want to leave the club

CHELSEA have received a major boost in their pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt after Juventus’ CEO hinted that the star wants to leave.

SunSport recently stated how the Blues were preparing a player-plus-cash bid to bring the Dutch centre-back to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have received a boost in their chase to sign Matthijs de Ligt

The Blues then reportedly had a £34million offer plus either Timo Werner or Christian Pulisic rejected by the Serie A club.

That has not deterred boss Thomas Tuchel, who is still desperate to bring the 22-year-old to Stamford Bridge.

He is also in the market to get fellow defender Nathan Ake back to West London.

Now transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the duo are his top “priorities” this summer window.

And Juventus chief Maurizio Arrivabene has appeared to have bolstered their hopes of landing De Ligt – saying they will be happy to do business as long as their asking price is met.

He said: “It’s impossible to keep players when they want to leave the club – but all the three parties in the negotiations have to be satisfied.”

It has been said that a £34m proposal was sent to the Serie A giants, with Werner or Pulisic to be included in the deal.

But manager Massimiliano Allegri isn’t keen on either forward, despite being in the market for attackers.

They also believe the fee is far below their asking price, which has been set at £86million.

Meanwhile, Ake joined the Blues’ academy in 2010 before climbing up the ranks and making his Premier League debut two years later.

He made 17 senior appearances across all competitions in between three consecutive loan spells at Reading, Watford and Bournemouth respectively.

In 2017 he joined the Cherries for a £20million fee and doubled his price tag during his spell on the South coast.

His fantastic form attracted interest from various clubs including Manchester City, who bought him for £41m three years later.

But now he could be on the move once again and returning to Chelsea.
