Chelsea in transfer tussle for West Brom wonderkid Jamaldeen Jimoh, 15, but may be gazumped by Man City

MANCHESTER CITY are trying to gazump Chelsea for West Brom wonderkid Jamaldeen Jimoh.

England youth cap Jimoh, 15, is now being chased by both Premier League giants as domestic talent is more popular than ever.

Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea hope Pep Guardiola’s Man City don’t beat them in the hunt for Baggies’ starlet Jamaldeen Jimoh.

The midfield dynamo seems sure to leave the Baggies, who will collect a fee, and he has two of the biggest clubs on his trail.

And Chelsea looked in pole position, possibly helped by the Three Lions Under-16s squad already containing four Blues’ kids.

But now Etihad chiefs are confident of rivalling Chelsea for his signature.

Thomas Tuchel’s West Londoners certainly have distractions at the moment.

On the pitch, boss Tuchel faces big decisions like whether to drop out-of-form striker Romelu Lukaku for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.

And off it Chelsea have been rocked by owner Roman Abramovich handing over ‘care and stewardship’ of the club to six trustees.

Russian billionaire Abramovich acted after Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

But it’s thought the shock change will NOT have instant effects on the Blues’ squad.

Football decisions will stay the responsibility of director Marina Granovskaia and ex-Stamford Bridge keeper Petr Cech.

They already look after transfers and squad contracts.

Abramovich was among 35 prominent Russians who Lib Dem MP Layla Moran believes should have their assets frozen and confiscated.

So far there are no signs of that taking place, and sources close to the 55-year-old insist he has done nothing that would make him liable to sanctions.
