Former Premier League star looks unrecognisable as he ditches iconic hairstyle and swaps it for bushy beard

A FORMER Premier League star looks unrecognisable after he ditched his iconic hairstyle and grew a bushy beard.

Ex-Nottingham Forest striker Jason Lee was known for his distinctive hair cut – with his dreadlocks tied up in a knot on top of his head.

But the former footballer now sports a bald head and a dark bushy beard

But the former footballer now sports a very different look after retiring in 2012.

Two decades on, Lee dark bushy beard and a completely shaven head.

And footie fans would be forgiven for not recognising him at first glance.

Beginning his career at Charlton, the striker then spent two seasons at Lincoln City before moving to Southend United.

He moved to Nottingham Forest in 1994.

Lee made 63 Premier League appearances for Forest, scoring 12 goals in those matches.

It was here where he shot to fame for his distinctive trim.

After leaving the City Ground, Lee had a journeyman career playing for 13 different clubs in English football.

He went on to retire at the age of 41 before having a brief spell in management with non-league Boston United.

David Baddiel and Frank Skinner faced criticism after they mocked Lee’s hairstyle on their 90s TV show Fantasy Football League.

Baddiel has since apologised for the sketches involving Lee.

And in a 2022 interview, Skinner said their behaviour had been unacceptable: “Looking back, it was a bullying campaign. And it’s awful.

“And yeah, I’m ashamed of it… It wouldn’t be too much to say we’re both deeply ashamed.”
