Juventus plan Erling Haaland transfer to succeed Cristiano Ronaldo next summer when release clause drops to just £64m

JUVENTUS are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland, according to reports.

But the Serie A giants are plotting a move in 2022, when the striker will be available for a cut-price deal.

Juventus are willing to wait before making a move for Erling Haaland

Dortmund are currently demanding £150million to let Haaland go and reportedly turned down a player-plus-cash bid from Chelsea this week.

But next year the Norwegian will be available for just £65m, once a clause in his contract is activated.

And with Cristiano Ronaldo’s deal set to expire next summer, Juventus view it as the perfect opportunity to replace the old guard with the new, according to La Reppublica.

Several clubs are rumoured to be interested in Haaland, which is perhaps why Chelsea are looking to construct a deal this summer.

But Juventus have a good relationship with Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola, and that could work in their favour.

It helped them sign former Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt in 2019, another client of Raiola’s, despite De Ligt being courted by Barcelona at the time.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo is reportedly set to stay at Juventus this summer.

Juventus could free up Cristiano Ronaldo’s wages next year to move for Haaland

He had been linked to the likes of Manchester United and PSG.

And according to Gazzetta, it is still possible Ronaldo could extend his Juventus contract, albeit on much smaller terms.

Lionel Messi did similar when he put pen to paper on a new Barcelona contract this week, accepting a 50 per cent reduction in salary to extend his stay until 2026.
