Liverpool stars Alisson and Diogo Jota doubts for start of the season with Jurgen Klopp already facing injury crisis

DIOGO JOTA and Alisson could the miss the start of the season as injury problems start piling up for Jurgen Klopp.

Both sat out the 2-0 friendly win over Crystal Palace in Singapore.

First-team goalkeeper Alisson is also a doubt for the season opener

Boss Klopp already accepts he will be without attacker Jota for the Community Shield clash with Manchester City on July 30 – a week before the big kick-off.

He is not certain if his No1 goalkeeper will make it either saying: “Ali, I think, has a chance for City but Diogo not.

“Ali, he feels a muscle, abdominal. It’s nothing serious but, again, we prepare a full season.

“So he can train but just not like before, so he should not play in the moment.

“He should not be out for too long but every day he is not involved is too long.”

Klopp admits he is “concerned” over how long Jota will be missing after he had a scan on Thursday.

With new £85million record signing Darwin Nunez still settling in, and Sadio Mane having departed for Bayern Munich, Jota has been earmarked to start the new campaign.

He is understood to be suffering from hamstring problems that could keep him out for several weeks.

At least there was some good news for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who slapped the turf in frustration after signalling he could not carry on 44 minutes into the Palace clash after damaging his hamstring.

Ox, 28, has been plagued by problems throughout his five years with Liverpool – spending his second season out with cruciate knee ligament damage.

But Klopp said: “it’s pretty disappointing for us because Ox trained all the time really well since the pre-season started.

“It happened obviously with Ox in the past when it gets more intense and something can happen.

“Now this is just a muscle thing and that’s OK. We had worse situations, so I’m OK with it.

“He is obviously a top-class player and he can help us.”

Klopp’s men saw off the Eagles with ease having lost their first pre-season match 4-0 to Manchester United.

Jordan Henderson and Mo Salah got a goal in each half as the Kop manager played three different line-ups comprising of 32 players.
