Man Utd and Chelsea in Benoit Badiashile transfer hunt as Monaco demand £42.5m fee for 21-year-old defender

BOTH Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile, according to reports.

However the Ligue 1 side are demanding a fee of at least £42.5million for the highly rated 21-year-old.

Benoit Badiashile is attracting interest from multiple clubs

Chelsea are reportedly interested in Badiashile after Barcelona hijacked their £55million deal with Sevilla for Jules Kounde.

Rumours suggest Thomas Tuchel has already started to target alternatives as the Blues want to bring in three centre-backs, they have only signed one so far in Kalidou Koulibaly.

Man Utd are also keen on Badiashile to bolster their defensive options claim L’Equipe.

Erik ten Hag has already purchased Lisandro Martinez from his former club Ajax but amid claims United are looking to offload the likes of Eric Bailly and Phil Jones another addition may be needed.

Monaco have already cashed in this summer after selling Aurelien Tchouameni to Real Madrid so are under no pressure sell.

Badiashile played for the club 34 times last season as he helped his side finish 3rd in the table earning a Champions League place.

He also regularly featured for France’s Under-21 side captaining the team five times last season.

Newcastle were also previously interested in him.

If Chelsea don’t bring in Badiashile then they could continue their interest in French centre-backs as reports claim they want to bring in Paris Saint-Germain’s Presnel Kimpembe.

As for United, Ten Hag may have big issues to sort out than another defensive signing with Cristiano Ronaldo desperate to leave the club.

Legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been brought in to help sway CR7 into staying put.
