Man Utd ‘scouted Moussa Dembele’ in Lyon’s Europa League win over Porto as Rangnick eyes Cristiano Ronaldo replacements

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly identified Lyon striker Moussa Dembele as a possible replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Red Devils legend, 37, is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford with SunSport exclusively revealing he is intent on departing in the summer.

Lyon striker Moussa Dembele is reportedly on Manchester United’s radar in a potential £25million deal

Ronaldo has held crunch talks with agent Jorge Mendes, who has tried to calm the Portugal international down after he was axed from the side to face Manchester City.

Edinson Cavani is also set to depart at the end of the season on a free transfer, meanwhile Marcus Rashford is a target for Paris Saint-Germain as he too weighs up a move away.

And according to the Daily Mail, Dembele has emerged as an option for Ralf Rangnick as United look to bolster their attack.

They state that United sent scouts to watch the former Celtic marksman in action during their Europa League Last-16 first leg victory away at Porto on Wednesday.

Dembele grabbed the match-winning assist for Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta, who is believed to be on Arsenal’s radar.

The 25-year-old is a long-term target of United with the club tracking his progress since the 2015-16 season.

And with his contract in France to expire in 2023, the Premier League giants could finally turn their interest into a concrete offer with Lyon ready to cash in on him.

It has been claimed that the Ligue 1 outfit would be willing to sell the ex-Atletico Madrid loanee for as little as £25million.

Dembele, who won the LaLiga title at the Wanda Metropolitano last campaign, has scored nine goals from 22 matches in all competitions this term.

The former Fulham star is in great form of late with five of his top-flight goals this season coming in his last seven outings.

He was linked with a switch to Newcastle in the winter transfer window, but a move failed to materialise after Eddie Howe opted to sign Chris Wood from Burnley instead.
