EDINSON CAVANI was left confused and baffled by the Premier League banning players joining their national team for matches in red-list countries.
The Manchester United striker, 34, was due to link up with Uruguay for their upcoming triple header against Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador.
But the 20 Premier League clubs voted unanimously on Tuesday not to release their stars to countries that require returning travellers to isolate.
The decision stops 59 stars from 19 clubs departing for next month’s international window.
And Cavani – who has only recently returned from his summer break in his homeland – was clearly bemused.
He took to his Instagram story on Tuesday evening, sharing a screenshot of the Premier League statement on their website.
The ex-PSG star, who is yet to feature for United this season – simply added: “???” over the top.
Uruguay – like the rest of South America – is on the UK coronavirus red list.

Fifa were hoping the UK government would offer exemptions to players, as it did for Euro 2020.
But after talks between the Prem and the government, this looks unlikely and footballers would need to self-isolate in a hotel for ten days upon their return to British soil.
The players from clubs would have been unavailable for two Premier League rounds, a Uefa club competition matchday and the third round of the Carabao Cup.
Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: “Premier League clubs have always supported their players’ desires to represent their countries – this is a matter of pride for all concerned.
“However, clubs have reluctantly but rightly come to the conclusion that it would be entirely unreasonable to release players under these new circumstances.
“Quarantine requirements mean that players’ welfare and fitness will be significantly impacted. We understand the challenges that exist in the international match calendar and remain open to workable solutions.”
Liverpool and Manchester City had already decided not to let six players go to South America and Africa – the Reds leading the charge by preventing Mo Salah head to Egypt.
