Sunderland Footballer Jack Diamond Accused of Raping Woman He Met on Dating Site

A Sunderland footballer, Jack Diamond, 23, is facing serious allegations after he allegedly raped a woman he met on a dating site. The incident is said to have taken place at the home Diamond shared with his teammate, Anthony Patterson. Diamond has been suspended from Sunderland Football Club while the criminal case unfolds.

Invitation for "Cuddling" Turns into Alleged Sexual Assault

The woman claims that Diamond invited her over to his home for "cuddling," but upon arrival, he made it clear that he wanted more. It is alleged that Diamond raped and sexually assaulted her against her will. The court heard that the woman feared Diamond was communicating with Patterson about arranging a threesome, which added to her distress.

Claims of Consensual Sex and Aggressive Behavior

Diamond maintains that the sexual encounter was consensual. However, the woman told police that she eventually consented to some sexual activity before Diamond fell asleep. When he woke up, he allegedly continued to touch her inappropriately, despite her protests. The woman described Diamond as being quite aggressive during the incident.

Alleged Rape and Immediate Departure

According to the prosecution, Diamond sexually assaulted the woman while straddling her, causing her physical pain. He then proceeded to perform a sex act on himself before raping her. The woman became fearful when she saw Diamond messaging on his phone and suspected he was communicating with Patterson. She messaged a friend for help and was advised to leave immediately. She left Diamond's home and her distressed state was witnessed by her friend, who accompanied her until the police arrived.

Suspension and Termination of Contract

Diamond was on loan at Lincoln City when he was charged last season. The club has since terminated his contract. Additionally, Sunderland Football Club has suspended Diamond while the criminal case is ongoing. Diamond had made 45 appearances for Sunderland and scored eight goals during his time at the club.

The trial is still ongoing.
