Tottenham join Man Utd in Hakim Ziyech transfer battle and set to hold talks over Chelsea winger this week

TOTTENHAM have reportedly joined the race to sign Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech.

The Algerian, 29, wants to leave Stamford Bridge and has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Ajax.

Ziyech has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge

Earlier this week, Ziyech’s brother Abdullah dropped a massive hint that he could be set for a return to Ajax by posting a picture of him in the Dutch giants’ shirt.

But according to AD, he has now been identified as a possible target for Spurs.

The report states that Antonio Conte is hoping to hold talks over a potential move for the player this week.

Ziyech joined Chelsea for £37million two years ago, with Tottenham thought to be in a stronger financial position than Ajax to fund a deal.

And the Eredivisie champions will also need to offload Antony to Man Utd if they are to then go after Ziyech.

But the state of their squad means it is more likely the player will want to return to Holland as oppose to joining Tottenham.

This is because game time in North London is not guaranteed due to the presence of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and new signing Richarlison.

Ziyech is far more likely to play at Ajax and that could yet persuade him to return to the club where he has enjoyed the best years of his career to date.

He reached the Champions League semi-finals with Ajax in 2019, the same year he won the Eredivisie title with the club.

In 165 appearances, he scored 49 goals and provided 81 assists.

Leaving in 2020, he joined Chelsea but failed to ever really solidify himself as one of the first names on the team sheet.

He has managed just 14 goals and 10 assists in 84 appearances for the Blues and his days in West London now appear to be numbered.
