What happened to Pep Guardiola, why will he miss the Sheffield United game?

Manchester City boss to be absent for the next two matches

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side has been on fire this season, but the manager will be noticeably absent from the sideline for the next two weeks. City started their campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory against Burnley, followed by a hard-fought 1-0 win over Newcastle. Their next challenge is against newly-promoted Sheffield United on Sunday, but Guardiola won't be there to oversee the action due to an emergency medical reason.

Emergency back surgery sidelines the Premier League champion

The reason behind Pep Guardiola's absence is an emergency back surgery. The Manchester City boss has been suffering from severe back pain for some time and has now undergone a routine operation in Barcelona, performed by Dr Mireia Illueca. The surgery was successful, and Guardiola will now take time to recover and rehabilitate in Barcelona.

Assistant manager to assume duties in Guardiola's absence

During Guardiola's absence, assistant manager Juanma Lillo will step in and oversee coaching of the first team on the training field. He will also assume duties on the touchline until Guardiola's return. The manager is expected to make a comeback after the forthcoming international break, with his next appearance on the touchline scheduled for September 16 against West Ham.

Everyone at Manchester City wishes Pep a speedy recovery and looks forward to seeing him back in Manchester soon. In the meantime, the team will have to navigate their matches against Sheffield United and Fulham without their esteemed leader.
