Shocking Incident at FIA World Finals
British karting star, Joe Turney, endured a sickening injury in a terrifying collision during the FIA World Finals race in Franciacorta, Italy. The incident took place on lap ten, leaving fans and fellow racers in shock.
Leading the Race before Colliding
Despite leading the race, Turney was overtaken by Gabriel Gomez. However, the determined competitor managed to regain the lead before a collision sent both him and Gomez off track.
Fighting to Get Back on Track
Despite the collision, Turney attempted to regain his position by hauling his kart back onto the track. Unfortunately, his efforts were thwarted when Spaniard Nacho Tunon accidentally ran over Turney's ankle, leaving him in excruciating pain and unable to continue.
Successful Surgery and Road to Recovery
After being treated by a marshal and taken off the track on a stretcher, Turney was rushed to the hospital. Thankfully, he underwent successful surgery on his ankle and is now beginning the long journey to recovery.
Turney took to Instagram to express his gratitude for the support he has received during this difficult time. He thanked everyone for their messages and well wishes, stating that it means the world to him.
Race Resumes and New Victors Emerge
After the race was red flagged, the competition eventually resumed. Russian racer Kirill Kutskov emerged as the ultimate victor, followed by Dutchman Rene Lammers in second place and Japanese ace Kean Nakamura-Berta in third.
