Explosion and Fire at Formula E Testing Halts Pre-Season Activities

Man Rushed to Hospital

A man has been rushed to the hospital after a massive explosion set a team garage on fire during Formula E's pre-season testing. The incident occurred at Valencia's Circuit Ricardo Tormo and is believed to have been caused by a battery explosion.

Williams Garage Affected

The explosion took place inside the Williams garage, which supplies batteries for the Formula E series. As a result of the blast, staff members were seen running away, shouting for everyone to get out. The fire brigade quickly responded to the scene.

No Serious Damage Reported

The man who was rushed to the medical center is believed to have suffered from smoke inhalation and potential burns. However, he is reported to have escaped without any serious injuries.

Investigation Underway

The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation by Formula E, the FIA, and local fire authorities. The incident occurred during a break between practice sessions, and the fire was contained by the on-track Incident Response Team. Fire crews remain on site to extinguish the blaze.

Thousands Present for Pre-Season Test

Approximately 3,000 staff members, teams, and journalists were present for the first day of pre-season testing when the incident occurred. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene with people sprinting away from the garages and being quickly evacuated from the pit lane due to the smoke.
