F1 star Daniel Ricciardo reveals grisly scar following hand surgery

Australian Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo has displayed a gruesome scar after undergoing surgery to repair his broken hand.

Injury during Dutch Grand Prix

Ricciardo sustained the injury during a crash in the free practice session of the Dutch Grand Prix.

He was swiftly flown to Barcelona for the surgery and is now in the midst of the recovery process.

Update from the driver

Ricciardo has been keeping fans updated on his progress, taking to Instagram to share a post-surgery message.

He wrote, "Hey everyone. Had surgery this morning, got my first bit of metal work so that's pretty cool. Big thanks to everyone who reached out and kept my spirits up. This ain't a setback, just all part of the comeback."

Recently, he provided another update, showcasing his gnarly scar alongside the caption, "Relatively unchanged."

Rehabilitation and timeline for return

In a video shared by the F1 star, he can be seen singing along to Olivia Rodrigo's "Drivers License" while on an exercise bike during his rehabilitation.

Initially, Ricciardo aimed to be back for the Singapore Grand Prix, but it seems that he might miss a few more races.

Liam Lawson is currently filling in for Ricciardo in the meantime.

The comeback journey

Ricciardo began this season without a seat but returned to F1 when he joined AlphaTauri after Nyck De Vries was let go.

Despite his eagerness to secure a place at a team for next season, Ricciardo is prioritizing his recovery and only plans to return to the cockpit once fully fit.
