Max Verstappen Slams F1 for Qatar GP Farce and Warns It Could Happen Again in Las Vegas

F1 Made to Look "Silly" at Qatar GP, Says Verstappen

Max Verstappen has criticized Formula 1 (F1) after the farce at the Qatar GP, stating that it made the sport look "a bit silly." F1 gave the green light to the track despite it being completed just in time and without any test events. Verstappen's victory at the race added to the controversy surrounding the event.

No Test Events or Practice Before the Race

In an unprecedented move, the drivers had their first practice session on Friday, marking the first time any race car had been on the newly laid Qatar track. With no test events or other races on the bill, drivers navigated the dusty track with caution, causing cars to slide around due to the lack of grip.

Verstappen Urges Caution for Future Events

Verstappen expressed his concern about F1 being the first event on a newly resurfaced track. He suggested that in similar situations, F1 should not be the first to drive on the track to avoid looking "silly." Verstappen also emphasized the importance of running in new Tarmac to better understand the tires and improve overall performance.

Potential Grip Issues at Las Vegas Race

Before the inaugural race in Las Vegas in November, F1 officials need to address the challenges faced in Qatar. The new track in Las Vegas may encounter similar grip issues, which could pose a problem. Additionally, there have been other complications in organizing the race, including a worker's tragic death last month.
