Watch Terrifying Moment Sky Sports F1 Presenter’s Car Bursts into Flames and Leaves Him with Melted Boot in Race

Presenter Karun Chandhok Escapes Injury

During a recent race, Sky Sports F1 presenter Karun Chandhok narrowly avoided serious injury after his car unexpectedly burst into flames. Chandhok was participating in the Lavant Cup revival and was in seventh place at the time of the incident. However, he was forced to abandon the race due to the damage caused by the flames.

Dramatic Footage Shows Car Spinning Out

A video clip capturing the terrifying moment shows Chandhok's car spinning out as a result of the explosion. Despite the chaos, the 39-year-old managed to maintain enough control to steer his car onto the grass and away from danger.

Near Miss for the Presenter

Remarkably, Chandhok emerged from the incident unscathed. While his car sustained significant damage, the presenter only suffered some damage to his boot, which had melted due to the intense heat of the flames.

Chandhok Reflects on the Incident

Taking to Twitter, Chandhok commented on the incident, expressing his gratitude for walking away with no serious injuries. He wrote, "Lucky to get away with that with nothing more than a melted boot. Something went bang and seized up the back wheels and sent me spinning. Such a shame to end a race in my dream GT car like that but happy to get out ok!"

Brother's Praise and Family Stress

Chandhok's brother, Suhail, also a presenter, shared the video of the incident on social media and commended his brother for his composure and quick thinking. He said, "Most importantly just really glad he's ok, but I have to say that save, car control, and presence of mind to quickly get it off circuit and onto the grass was IMPRESSIVE. We thought we were done with stressful moments as a family of a racing driver but guess that's the nature of the beast."
