‘All we can do is pray’ – Brother of hospitalised jockey Josh Moore provides update as he remains in critical care

JAMIE MOORE has asked people to pray for his brother Josh.

Josh has been in critical care at a Liverpool hospital since Wednesday after he picked up a serious chest infection.

Moore is son of Sussex-based trainer Gary Moore and brother to fellow jockeys Jamie and Ryan

The jockey had originally been in hospital for surgery on a broken leg he suffered at Haydock last Saturday.

But after complications from that, he’s since been sedated on a ventilator with his family by his bedside.

Jamie said: “He’s had a slight improvement but all we can do is pray.

“There’s a long way to go, we’ve still got to keep fighting.

“He’s not turned the corner but he is slightly better, we are nothing without him.”

Josh, 29, enjoyed his best season in 2020-21 with 40 winners.

But he had already missed a large part of this campaign after an October fall at Plumpton in which he fractured his back and broke a number of ribs.

That required a six-hour operation to insert metal rods into his back and he finally made his return to the saddle at the end of January.

Fellow rider and brother Ryan won the Group 2 Bet365 Mile at Sandown on Friday.

Jamie is riding at Chepstow this evening for his dad Gary.
