Erratic horse ‘moonwalks’ to victory at Kempton after crashing through rail in race before

A video has emerged of a quirky racehorse named Sayedaty Sadaty 'moonwalking' to victory at Kempton after a chaotic run in a previous race. The two-year-old horse, owned by Ahmad Al Shaikh, caused a stir by scooting over the track, drifting towards the rail, and ultimately winning the race. Despite his talent, Sayedaty Sadaty's unusual behavior has left some questioning his ability to stay on track.

A 'moonwalking' victory

In the bizarre footage, Sayedaty Sadaty can be seen energetically crossing the Kempton surface, resembling Michael Jackson's signature move. This unconventional display comes after the horse's previous run, where he crashed through a rail and sent his jockey flying. However, punters remained undeterred by his antics, making him the 2-5 favorite.

Talent and direction

Sayedaty Sadaty started the race strongly, quickly moving towards the front of the field. Everything seemed to be going according to plan until the sixth furlong. Racing TV described the horse's movement as 'moonwalking' as he veered towards the nearside rail, far away from his rivals. Jockey Richard Kingscote attempted to correct the horse's misdirection with a smack, but Sayedaty Sadaty stubbornly continued, hugging the rail but still managing to secure a comfortable victory.

Pressure to perform

Owner Ahmad Al Shaikh is no stranger to talented horses, as he has previously owned the 2020 and 2022 Derby runners-up Khalifa Sat and Hoo Ya Mal. He is also the owner of Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud hero Dubai Mile. With Sayedaty Sadaty still early in his racing career, there are high expectations for him to live up to the success of his peers.

Next race: The Royal Lodge Stakes

Sayedaty Sadaty's next challenge will be the Group 2 Newmarket Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes. This race, held at the Rowley Mile racecourse in Newmarket, offers a significant jump in prize money, with £70,888 going to the winner. The course presents natural challenges, including undulating terrain and wide tracks that can accommodate up to 35 runners. If his performance at Kempton is any indication, Sayedaty Sadaty may need to focus on running forwards rather than sideways to secure a victory.
