Hi, what are you looking for?

Horse Racing

Frankie Dettori: Hollie Doyle is the one we all have to beat but I fancy my chances at Goodwood

I’M tickled pink to be back in blue for the opener today.

I get on BLUE TRAIL (1.50) for Charlie Appleby and his horses are flying at the moment.

Dettori has a good book of rides at Goodwood on Thursday

Blue Trail has been gelded since his last run, finishing midfield at Royal Ascot, so we’ll see whether that helps him bounce back. His form before that looked pretty solid.

We’ve got a nice draw in three, though that’s more important over the mile and the seven-furlong trips at Goodwood, and he’s got a chance.

Obviously Nashwa is a worthy favourite following her run in the French Oaks and is the one we all have to beat in the Nassau Stakes.

But I’m looking forward to riding ONE FOR BOBBY (3.35) for my great friend Johnny Murtagh.

I was delighted when Johnny called to ask me to ride her and it would be an honour to notch a big-race win for him.

She looks like a nice filly by Frankel who might not have shown her best yet. Obviously she is a big outsider and has a lot to find in this field, but we’ll give it a go and try to run into a place.

She travelled nicely and finished her race out well at The Curragh last time so, as long as we get a bit of luck and have a fair run, then hopefully she’ll be finishing well again at the business end.

I don’t have a ride in the Richmond Stakes, but it will be interesting to see Royal Scotsman (2.25) again after a good third in the Coventry, which is always a strong race.

And I would advise punters to keep an eye on anything the Johnstons run in a handicap.

They always target this Goodwood meeting. I was chuffed to ride a winner for them on Tuesday and I’ve got another couple tomorrow.
