Frankie Dettori’s Horses for Champions Day at Ascot

Frankie Dettori's Surprise Retirement U-turn

Frankie Dettori, the legendary Italian jockey, shocked fans when he announced his retirement U-turn on October 12. In a short video on Twitter, he revealed that he will be prolonging his career by moving to the United States next year. But before bidding farewell to British racing, Dettori will be competing at Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday, October 21.

Dettori's Winning Hopes at Champions Day

Frankie Dettori will be riding a number of horses at Champions Day, hoping to end his British career on a high note. He will begin the day by riding outsider Trawlerman in the 1.15 Long Distance Cup. The 52-year-old will then saddle up on Kinross, the 2022 winner, as he aims for a second consecutive victory in the Champions Sprint.

In the 2.25 Champions Fillies and Mares Stakes, Dettori will be riding Free Wind, a 5-year-old Bay Mare owned by George Strawbridge. He will then partner with Chaldean, the winner of the 2,000 Guineas, in the 3.05 Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Finally, Dettori will ride King Of Steel, the Epsom Derby runner-up, in the 3.45 Champion Stakes, which will be his last race in Britain.
