German Racehorse Fantastic Moon Added to Arc de Triomphe Field with Eye-Watering Fee

Owners Pay Big Bucks to Secure Spot in Europe's Richest Race

The owners of German racehorse Fantastic Moon have made a bold move by paying an eye-watering fee of £105,000 to secure a spot in Sunday's Arc de Triomphe. The colt, who won the German Derby in July, has been added to the field for Europe's richest race, with a total prize purse of £2.5 million.

Punters Excited by Fantastic Moon's Entry

Punters are optimistic about Fantastic Moon's chances in the Arc de Triomphe after the owners' hefty investment. Despite being a 14-1 shot yesterday, the odds on Fantastic Moon have already been slashed to as short as 8-1 with some bookmakers.

Record of German Horses in the Arc de Triomphe

The Germans have a strong track record in the Arc de Triomphe, having won the prestigious race three times, including a shocking victory by Torquator Tasso at odds of 80-1 in 2021. Fantastic Moon's owners are hoping to follow in their footsteps and secure a victory in this year's race.

Decision to Stay Closer to Home

Originally, Fantastic Moon's trainer, Sarah Steinberg, had considered sending the colt to either the Japan Cup or Breeders' Cup. However, due to unusually warm weather and drier ground conditions in Paris, the decision was made to keep the horse closer to home and compete at Longchamp instead.

Steinberg stated, "Fantastic Moon is in excellent form and we hope for good ground conditions in Paris for him to perform at his best. Despite the allure of international races, we decided against subjecting the three-year-old to the long journey and burden that comes with it."

With the race only days away, the excitement is building as Fantastic Moon prepares to compete in the iconic Arc de Triomphe. Punters will be closely watching to see if the eye-watering fee for entry into the race will pay off with a top finish.
