JOCKEY Josh Moore is showing “signs of improvement” but remains in critical care at hospital after a horror fall at Haydock three weeks ago.
The rider suffered serious injuries after falling from Gleno on April 16, breaking his leg, ribs and damaging his back.
Moore, 30, was placed in intensive care after complications from a chest infection arose, resulting from a rare reaction while under sedation.
He suffered from Fat Embolization Syndrome, which is when fat gets into the bloodstream and causes infection.
He was placed on a ventilator to aid his breathing before docs were able to operate on his broken femur and vertebrae.
In an update, the Injured Jockeys Fund said they were busy making plans for Moore’s rehabilitation.
The statement said: “Josh Moore remains in critical care at Aintree Hospital following injuries sustained at Haydock Park racecourse on Saturday, April 16.
“His recovery was complicated by Fat Embolization Syndrome, which can occur after major fractures.
“Josh’s breathing continues to get better and after being deeply unconscious there are now early signs of improvement.
“The medical team are actively planning the next steps in his treatment and rehabilitation.
“The Moore family thank everyone for their continued good wishes for Josh.”
Jockey Jamie Moore asked racing fans to pray for his brother last month.
It is the latest in a string of injuries for the luckless Moore, who also broke his back after a fall at Plumpton back in October.
He was stuck in hospital for two weeks while unable to move while he waited for an operation.
