Punters dealt blow as JP McManus horses ruled out of Cheltenham Festival

Punters gearing up for the Cheltenham Festival have been hit with disappointing news, as a number of horses owned by billionaire JP McManus have been ruled out of the prestigious event. McManus has enjoyed tremendous success at the festival in previous years, making him a popular choice among bettors. However, this year three of his big contenders will not be taking part, according to racing manager Frank Berry.

Novice chaser Inthepocket out for the season

One of the horses ruled out is novice chaser Inthepocket. Trained by Henry de Bromhead, the seven-year-old showed promise with a second-place finish at Navan in November. However, Berry revealed that the horse has pulled muscles and will need time to recover. Inthepocket is expected to miss the entire season and may not return until the autumn.

Indiana Dream and Impervious also sidelined

Willie Mullins-trained Indiana Dream, who is unbeaten in three career runs, will also be absent from the festival. The six-year-old recently secured an impressive victory at Navan but has suffered a setback, forcing him to miss the event. Likewise, Impervious, a long-shot contender for the Gold Cup, won't be competing this year. Both horses are expected to return in the autumn.

Hope for A Dream To Share

Last year's Supreme winner, A Dream To Share, may still have a chance to participate in the festival. Berry expressed optimism that the horse will return to action in a few weeks, although no specific target has been set. A Dream To Share is currently the second-favorite for the Supreme, but the late start to his season is less than ideal.

While McManus will still have several other horses competing at the Cheltenham Festival, the absence of these key contenders is undoubtedly a blow to punters who were banking on their success. Nevertheless, the festival is known for its unpredictability, and there will still be plenty of excitement and opportunities for betting enthusiasts to enjoy.
