Ryan Moore Banned from Huge Doncaster Race as Jason Weaver Slates ‘Harsh’ Decision

Star jockey Ryan Moore will miss out on a chance to win £118,000 after receiving a five-day ban for his riding incident at Newmarket last week.

Ban for Chopping Off Rival

Moore was banned for drifting in front of Bellarchi, causing the rival horse to stumble and almost unseat its jockey, Oli Stammers.

Jason Weaver Calls Ban Harsh

ITV's Jason Weaver, who was covering the race, believes the ban is extremely harsh, stating: "Five days for that is very tough – it's harsh."

Missed Opportunity at Doncaster

The ban means Moore will be unable to ride in the Group 1 Futurity Trophy Stakes at Doncaster on October 28, where he was set to partner Aidan O'Brien's rising star, Diego Velazquez.

Bitter Blow for Moore

Diego Velazquez, the even-money ante-post favorite, was unbeaten in two starts and was expected to win at Doncaster, earning Moore a prize of £118,000.

Opportunity for Other Jockeys

Moore's absence opens the door for other jockeys to seize the opportunity, with O'Brien having won the race 11 times in the past.

Seamie Heffernan, O'Brien's number two, is the likely choice, but there are also British-based jockeys without a ride in the race who may be considered.

Will Dettori Make a U-Turn?

Frankie Dettori, who is scheduled to sign off from British racing at Ascot one week earlier, may reconsider if O'Brien calls on him to ride.
