Shishkin DECLARED for Betfair Tingle Creek but punters sceptical of him actually running after Constitution Hill fiasco

SHISHKIN has been declared for Saturday’s blockbuster Betfair Tingle Creek – but punters are sceptical of him actually running.

Nicky Henderson sent ante-post punters into meltdown after he said there was a chance his star stayer might not compete on account of the going.

Shishkin is set to make his seasonal return in the blockbuster Betfair Tingle Creek – but punters have been left praying trainer Henderson does actually run him

But the Seven Barrows genius officially declared his former Arkle winner on Thursday morning.

Punters are holding their breath though, especially as it comes just two weeks after the Constitution Hill fiasco at Ascot.

There, racegoers were robbed of the chance to see the most exciting horse in training when he was withdrawn the morning of racing.

Constitution Hill went into odds-on Champion Hurdle favouritism a week later after bolting up in the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle.

Those travelling to Sandown this weekend will hope there’s no repeat as Shishkin looks to get his career back on track after recovering from a rare bone condition.

In reply to a comment saying Shishkin would run, one punter said: “Any chance of him actually running?”

Another commented: “Will make it farcical right up to will they/won’t they run! Could be midday Saturday.”

While one commented: “Being declared and running are still two very different things.

“Edwardstone was declared to run at Ascot but was then pulled because of the ground.

“Shishkin is trained by Nicky Henderson – enough said.”

And another posted: “Likes of Shishkin, Edwardstone, Jonbon all declared

“Right thing to do is let us know if they are running or not no later than 9am on race day.”

Betfair Spokesman, Barry Orr, commented today: “It really has been a rollercoaster market with the uncertainty surrounding the participation of Shishkin and Edwardstone.

“Greaneteen, who’s now 9-4, traded at a shade of odds-on during the week, but has now been usurped at the head of the market by Shishkin, who’s clear favourite at evens.

“It’s fantastic that all the market principles have stood their ground and what a treat horseracing fans are in for.”
