LADY BOWTHORPE is to go on her travels for her next assignment.
After producing a career best to take the Nassau Stakes in stunning style, trainer William Jarvis has his eyes on a trip to France.
After talks with super agent and owner Emma Banks, connections plan to run the five-year-old in the Group 1 Prix Romanet at Deauville on August 22.
Newmarket-based Jarvis said: “She’s come out of Goodwood brilliantly, she’s got such a great constitution and she’s back to her normal self.
“We’ve put travel arrangements in place to go to France next weekend and it looks like the Romanet will be her next race.
“It looks like a good spot for her and now she seems to take her travelling better, why not?”
It was a first Group 1 for Jarvis since 1994 and he hopes he won’t have to wait as long for the next one.
With next week’s Juddmonte International at York losing Pyledriver to injury, Jarvis still isn’t tempted to supplement his star for the Knavesmire feature.
He added: “I think it makes sense to stick to ten furlongs after Goodwood. That could obviously change after France though.
“We originally thought briefly about York but we would have needed to stump up a lot of money and quickly said no.
“The Romanet looks the race and after that you have the Prix de l’Opera too. We’ll talk after her next run and give her a big end of season target somewhere.”
Jarvis and Banks are yet to decide whether this season will be her last and will wait until the end of her campaign before making a call either way.
The handler said: “We need to let the dust settle before we decide on that. It’s mainly up to Emma but we haven’t got onto that yet. We’re still trying to enjoy Goodwood!”
