Team Enable up for Arc scrap as John Gosden’s star on course for September Stakes spin at Kempton

ENABLE’S Arc prep will mean little when it comes to the real thing.

But after both Love and Ghaiyyath dominated at York, more scrutiny will be placed on John Gosden’s wondermare when she runs at Kempton.

The bookies are still struggling to split Love and Enable at the top of the Arc betting

Her connections confirmed she will head to Sunbury for a spin in the Group 3 September Stakes before her date with destiny in France.

And Enable’s connections were not deterred by what they saw from the sidelines at York as they hunt a famous third win in the Arc showpiece.

Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Enable’s owner Khalid Abdullah, said: “What we saw from both Love and Ghaiyyath was no great surprise, really.

“Both of them had very strong form going into their races – they were both favourites and both won well.

“Really they just proved what very good horses they are, but I think we already knew that – it wasn’t a surprise.”

After York, most bookies made Love the Arc favourite following her Yorkshire Oaks romp. Betfair priced Love up at 2-1 with Enable a 3-1 shot.

But that could all change after the September Stakes come September 5.

Grimthorpe added: “Enable is in good form, anyway, and still on course for Kempton.

“Come the Arc, what will be will be. It won’t be just those two we’ll have to worry about.

“The Arc is so well revered for a reason – all the opposition merits respect. No Arc is ever easy.”
