Will Frankie Dettori Break Royal Protocol Again?

Frankie Dettori, the world's most famous jockey, is known for his cheeky antics and breaking Royal protocol. After winning the Ascot Gold Cup on Courage Mon Ami, Dettori landed a kiss on Queen Camilla's cheek. And now, it seems he might do it again, thanks to the superstar horse he's set to ride in the upcoming St Leger.

Can Dettori Win Again?

On Saturday, Dettori will be riding Queen's Vase winner Gregory for big-spending owners Wathnan Racing at Doncaster. This puts him in direct competition with Prince Charles and Camilla, who will be represented by Desert Hero, a fellow Royal Ascot and Goodwood champ. Despite Desert Hero's impressive record, bookies believe it's Gregory who holds the upper hand for the final Classic of the season.

What's at Stake?

A victory in the 1m6f St Leger contest is worth over £420,000, making it a massive payday for even the richest owners. Both Dettori and Desert Hero's trainer William Haggas are eager to make racing history and give the Royals a second win in the famous race.

Bookies' Views

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes has expressed confidence in Gregory, saying, "The vibes are still positive around Gregory despite his defeat at York, and he remains the one to beat." The remaining nine contenders have all seen their odds shorten, with Gregory leading the pack at 9-4, followed by Continuous at 3-1 and Desert Hero at 5-1. It's shaping up to be an exciting race.
